What You Need To Know About The Minnesota Live-Fire Shooting Exercise:
In order to complete your Minnesota Permit training course you must register for, and complete, an actual shooting qualification exercise. In order to accomplish this all you need to do is schedule one of the many live-fire sessions available offered by Legal Heat throughout the state of Minnesota.
The actual shooting exercises completed will vary somewhat depending on the location, weather and instructor. However, you can generally expect to fire roughly 50 rounds at targets ranging from 5-15 yards. There is no "shooting test" in the sense that you will not be held to a strict accuracy standard. State law simply requires that you complete an "actual shooting qualification exercise" (see MN ST § 624.714) so you shouldn't think of this as a test, but more of an exercise. Your instructor will work with you to make sure you demonstrate sufficient safety and skill.
